Welcome to Brick and Soup Can!

Dear Reader,

It can be very isolating to exist in a world that often feels like it’s not quite meant for you. It’s a very othering experience. Yet, for as long as we have been excluded, queer people have been carving out spaces for ourselves. Spaces for love, friendship, and community. Spaces for art, for transformation. Spaces for joy.

We chose the name Brick and Soup Can for this very reason.

They’re two historical symbols of protests — such as the Stonewall Riots — and community organizing. Symbols that remind us of how far we’ve come in the fight for our future.

To every queer kid who wonders if they will ever find their people: you will. The world is waiting for you to come and change it.
