  • Sept 5 | 1pm - Belonging Together DEIAB Workshop

Belonging Together: Strengthening Teams and Communities is Volusia Pride's interactive diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) training designed to help participants better understand themselves, one another, and the systems that shape our communities and workplaces. Through guided discussion, reflection, and practical examples, participants gain tools to foster stronger relationships, improve communication, and create environments where people from all backgrounds can thrive.

    Participants explore topics including:

    • Identity and lived experience

    • Inclusive communication practices

    • Understanding bias and its impact

    • Systems of privilege and oppression

    • Building cultures of respect and belonging

    • Recognizing barriers to inclusion

The session is designed to be approachable, engaging, and accessible for participants with varying levels of experience and familiarity with DEIB concepts.

    Registration is Required

  • Sept 18 | 6pm - Family Dinner - Loaded Baked Potato Night

Load ’em up! Bring toppings, fillings, or creative potato-themed sides. From classic sour cream and cheese to chili, veggies, bacon, or unexpected flavors, we’ll build the ultimate baked potato mountain.

Family Dinner is a monthly potluck gathering where our chosen family comes together to share food, laughter, and connection. Everyone brings a dish—simple or elaborate, store-bought or homemade—to contribute to a communal meal built with variety, warmth, and love.

It’s a space where community is built one shared plate at a time, where new friendships form, and where everyone has a seat at the table. No matter what you bring or how you show up, you’re part of the family.

Join us every third Friday of the month as we celebrate the joy of gathering, sharing, and creating community through food.

  • Oct 10 | 2pm-5pm - Banned Book Crawl and Pride Walk

Book lovers are invited to take part in the Bookworm Banned Book Crawl from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in Downtown DeLand.

Presented by DeLand Pride, the crawl will begin at The West Volusia Beacon and continue through several downtown businesses, including The Crafter’s Guild Store, New Fangled, Blake Elliot, The Nest and Desert Sage. The event will feature free books and spotlight frequently challenged and banned titles.

The event will also mark the debut of the second issue of Brick and Soup Can, a youth zine.

We are also accepting book donations! See our wishlist HERE.

We will then convene at 6:15pm at the Old Courthouse Steps on New York Ave to commence our Pride Walk around downtown DeLand. Dress in your gay apparel and bring your pride flag (or borrow one of ours!) to show your pride as we walk around town and end at Abbey Bar for Drag Bingo!
