Know your rights!

It’s important to know your rights, and how to exercise them.

The ACLU has a page dedicated to this topic, https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights, that covers a number of different situations, and what your rights are in each situation, such as:

  • LGBTQ rights

  • Immigrants’ Rights

  • Students’ Rights

  • Voting Rights

  • Stopped by Police

  • Religious Freedoms

  • Health Care Providers

  • And many more…

You can also keep on hand a Know Your Rights card (also known as a Red card).

You can print these out at home using this link: https://www.ilrc.org/sites/default/files/documents/red_card-self_srv-english.pdf

Educating yourself is critically important so that if a situation arises, you can remain calm, stay safe, and protect yourself and others to the best of your ability.
