Volusia Pride is governed by an active volunteer Board of Directors operating under a working board model in which leadership remains deeply engaged in organizational operations, programming, strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach.

Volusia Pride is seeking passionate, community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors for 2027. Open positions include Events Director, Director of Donor & Volunteer Relations, and Member-at-Large. Each role plays an important role in advancing inclusive programming, strengthening community relationships, and supporting the organization’s growth. Open Positions

  • Events Director

    Event Strategy & Calendar Management

    • Develop and manage the annual calendar of community events.

    • Align event timing, resources, and priorities across Chapters and Committees.

    • Ensure coordination with organizational goals, capacity, and funding constraints.

    Special Event Planning Committees

    • Lead planning committees for large-scale events (e.g., Love is Love Pride Fest).

    • Oversee timelines, task delegation, and execution of major event deliverables.

    • Coordinate permitting, vendor participation, and logistical requirements.

    Events Team Management

    • Directly supervise the events team, including Entertainment Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, and Safety Team.

    • Provide structure, guidance, and accountability to ensure effective team performance.

    Vendor & Venue Coordination

    • Identify, negotiate, and manage contracts with venues, vendors, and entertainers.

    • Ensure all agreements align with budget, compliance, and event requirements.

    Volunteer Coordination (Events)

    • Oversee recruitment, assignment, and coordination of volunteers for special events.

    • Ensure volunteers are properly trained, scheduled, and supported in collaboration with Volunteer Relations.

    Post-Event Reporting & Evaluation

    • Compile and analyze event data, including attendance, budget performance, and participant feedback.

    • Provide reports and recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.

  • Director of Donor & Volunteer Relations

    Outreach & Communication

    • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage current and prospective donors and volunteers through email, social media, events, and personal touchpoints.

    • Coordinate with Communications to ensure messaging is consistent, mission-aligned, and tailored to different stakeholder groups (donors, volunteers, sponsors, partners).

    • Maintain contact lists and basic relationship tracking (e.g., touchpoint logs) to support ongoing engagement and follow-up.

    Donor Stewardship

    • Givebutter Management

    • Ensure timely, personalized acknowledgement of all gifts, using appropriate templates, calls, and notes based on gift level and relationship.

    • Provide regular impact updates to donors (newsletters, reports, stories) to show how their support advances Volusia Pride’s mission.

    • Support recognition opportunities and donor appreciation activities (thank-you events, spotlights, special communications).

    Volunteer Stewardship

    • Develop and maintain processes to welcome, onboard, and recognize volunteers, ensuring they feel supported and appreciated.

    • Coordinate with program and events leads to match volunteers to roles that fit their skills, interests, and availability.

    • Gather feedback from volunteers on their experience and work with leadership to improve retention, satisfaction, and inclusion.

  • Member-At-Large

    A Member-at-Large is a flexible support role that fills gaps and backs up other teams during high-volume periods.

    • Serve as a flexible board/leadership position that can be assigned to emerging priorities and temporary needs across the organization.

    • Support other teams during high-volume periods, such as large events, fundraising campaigns, and celebration months.

    • Assist with event-related tasks, volunteer coordination, or administrative follow-up as needed.

    • Step in to cover absences, unexpected workload spikes, or special projects where additional capacity is needed.

    • Maintain a broad understanding of organizational operations to quickly integrate into different teams and functions when requested.
